About Me

E. J.

A former television broadcaster in Nigeria, I earned my first degree in Linguistics/Classics from the premier university in Nigeria, the University of Ibadan. Twice though not concurrently, I was the image maker and head of Public Relations at the Federal University of Agriculture (FUNAAB), Nigeria, an assignment for which I still receive accolades for very creditable performance. During the period, the University won several notable awards. In between, I served as Deputy Registrar, McPherson University, Nigeria, on sabbatical, where I supported the pioneering efforts of the university management to establish a virile university, multitasking seamlessly between the Registry and Public Relations Division. Consequently, I have garnered a wealth of diverse experiences, with increased leadership skills in public relations, communication, and media relations; fielding a strong background in higher education administration, human resources, and personnel management.

However, I now enjoy research about the internet and new media, hence my continuous desire to acquire fresh knowledge for enhanced productivity. Moreover, I recently earned a double master’s degree in International Communication from the Leeds Beckett University, United Kingdom, and Vilnius University, Lithuania. Additionally, I am pursuing a blended MBA programme as an Orange Knowledge Fellow at the Business School Netherlands. At the Vilnius University, Lithuania, I pioneered a group research communication campaign, which continues to impact the community, while my group at the Leeds Beckett University, United Kingdom, delivered the winning research pitch to the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), on Ethics vs Profit. I participated in a communications audit for the Leeds Beckett University Postgraduate School too. Additionally, I took part in Vilnius University, Lithuania’s SMART Internship Programme. My research team worked with the Lithuanian Railway Corporation to deliver a campaign using Design Thinking. Competencies acquired include self evaluation, teamwork, creativity, initiative/entrepreneurship, problem-solving and contact-making. Currently, I officially serve as one of the Vilnius University Mentors.

I am an alumna of the Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP) of the Netherlands Universities Foundation for International Cooperation (NUFFIC) and a member of many reputable professional associations such as the Association of Internet Researchers (AoIR), Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), Graduate Women International (GWI) and the Association of University Administrators (AUA).

Passionate about the empowerment of women and girls, I am a Digital Ambassador on World Pulse, a global social network that empowers members to transform communities, where I give back to humanity through virtual volunteering. I love offering my experience and expertise to youths in my country, especially girls, to harness study, as well as other advancement opportunities globally.
